ABOUT THE CSC
A Letter From Our Campus Minister
We confess…we’re no good at religion!
In our zeal, we’ve made up rules, passed them off as God’s, and judged people by them. At times, we’ve loved truth at the expense of grace, and at times, we’ve loved grace at the expense of truth.
Worst of all, we’ve looked to Jesus, not as our forgiver and as our leader, but as our role-model…who came, not to BE THE WAY to God through relationship, but to SHOW THE WAY to God through religion.
This is wrong. And for this, we apologize.
As it turns out, we’ve also been on the other side of the table, not just contributing to the mess in the world, but suffering because of the mess others have contributed.
If you’re like us, it’s easy to allow the mess of it all to produce a real disillusionment with God. The question is, are your negative experiences the byproduct of God…or a misrepresentation of God?
Your conclusion will determine whether you run AWAY from God or TO God.
We at the Christian Student Center are learning to discover who our Creator really is – not based on what we’ve been told by our parents, or by our culture – but based on God’s revelation of Himself: through His creation, through His Word, and through His Son.
We’re also striving to create a come-as-you-are culture in the church, recognizing that we are all imperfect people, on a spiritual journey of owning a faith that engages our heads, our hearts, and our hands.
It is this sort of community that we invite you to join, whether you are a freshman or a graduate student, raised inside or outside the church, American or international, religious or agnostic…everyone is welcome!
We hope this website will help you get familiar with our student organization and the opportunities available to assist you in your own journey of discovery.
