Romans 3:23 states "For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God." This verse shows us that no matter how good or bad of a person that we think we are, we come up short when it comes to the glory of God. As a result of this sin, it breaks our ability to have a relationship with God and our punishment is death. Romans 6:23a "For the wages of sin is death..." But not all hope is lost, if you read on Romans 6:23b states "...but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."
Simply put, we are all sinners that deserve death, but God gave us the perfect gift of His son to die in our place. (Romans 5:8 "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.")
If you are tired of trusting in yourself and falling short of the glory of God and instead want to allow Jesus Christ in your life and let Him be your Lord and Savior then there is good news! Acts 2:38 says "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit." The gift of the Holy Spirit which is made available to us through Jesus' sacrifice is God living inside of you and restoring you and making you clean and blameless in God's sight.
